Perched at the foot of Massenutten Mountain, backed by
the George Washington National Forrest, and overlooking
the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains
beyond, Valley View cabin is an inviting little escape.

Completely rebuilt (only the brick fireplace remains) in 2008
by a local artisan, the house features exposed wood beams
(some still have bark) and richly paneled walls of hand
milled local lumber, with picture windows exposing the lovely
view of the valley below.  The builder's artistry is evident in
every corner. The house can easily sleep four, with a queen
bed in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the family room.
Comfortably furnished with all new appliances, charcoal
grill, flat screen televisions, DVD players and satellite TV,
books, games and movies, you can enjoy the wonderful
activities and sites of the area or simply sit on the deck,
enjoy the view and exhale.

About two and a half hours from downtown Washington DC
and less than two hours from Dulles International Airport,
the house is the perfect opportunity to unplug and enjoy the
unparalled beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and river.
Whether you enjoy a day on the river, exploring local
wineries, or chilling out all weekend - you'll find it all here.
If you've never had a mountain vacation before, prepare to
fall in love, no matter what the season is.

Activities include enjoying the Shenandoah River right down
the street, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, white water
rafting, tubing, the Luray Caverns, exploring downtown, or
just sitting on the deck and relaxing.

Pets are very welcome!  Please see the rates schedule for
the minimal pet fees.

We invite you to come discover this retreat and it's
charming surroundings, and to revisit again and again as the
paneling mellows with age and the seasons change.

- Family room with sleeper sofa and loveseat, flat screen
TV, DVD player and satellite TV
- Kitchen with all new appliances, coffeemaker, toaster,
microwave, dishes, glasses utensils and cookware.
- One bedroom with queen bed (and beautiful view of the
valley) with flat screen, DVD player and satellite TV

4 Wheel Drive in Snowy Weather

Things to do:
- Everything river related at Shenandoah River Outfitters, a
short walk away
- Luray Caverns
- Horseback Riding
- Trout farm fishing
- Historic downtown Luray
- Skyline drive and Shenandoah National Park

Tips:
- The nearest shopping (for anything) is about twenty
minutes away - either plan on stopping in town on your way
in, or bring what you need for a day or so.  Once you arrive,
the last thing you'll want to do is drive back down the side of
the mountain to go grocery shopping!
- Grill accessories are provided but be sure to bring
charcoal and fluid, and plan on grilling.  It just tastes better
there for some reason, we can't explain it.
- As long as you are sitting outside with the grill going and
your feet on the rail, you may as well bring bug spray and
citronella candles.
- The kitchen is complete with the basic pots and pans
necessary but if you are a gourmet, you may want to bring
your favorites.
- The house is stocked with books, movies and games,
check the small trunk by the door.
- The only internet access is dial up, but we encourage you
not to worry about that.  If you have no choice, be sure to
arrange for dial up access from your internet provider.
- For horseback riding and the many adventures the
Shenandoah River Outfitters provides, we recommend you
call in advance for reservations.
- Bring your camera!  The entire area - from the mountain to
downtown Luray - is breathtaking.
Also included are a variety of spices, herbs, coffee, teas,
sugar, oil, vinegar, etc. For the young (also the young at
heart), there is hot chocolate mix and microwave popcorn!
